Swimming with Whale Sharks and Kam is a Junior Open Water diver!

An amazing day on the water yesterday. We swam with massive whale sharks. OMG freaky and cool at the same time! And Kam completed his junior open water dive qualification so a great day all round.

Sohar Equestrian Centre

On the third day of Eid the Sohar Equestrian Centre put on a horse exhibition behind the camel race track. Unfortunately riders have no concept of safety with no helmets worn by most and there was one serious injury where the rider was hanging upside down from the horse and got kicked in the head. Hopefully it was nothing more serious than concussion.

Onto saving the turtles!

Probably the highlight of our Eid break for me was finding some turtles on the beach at Ras al Hadd that were digging out a nest to lay their eggs. We then spent the next two hours rescuing baby turtles that were heading into town instead of the sea! It was a fabulous experience for everyone, up at 5am to spot them. We also saw one laying their eggs - about the size of golf balls and soft.

Our new camping spot near the turtles. In Oman you can camp wherever you like.

Up at 5am to rescue baby turtles and found three females digging a nest for their eggs.
